Shelter

Used dryer sheets, cotton thread

2020-2021

“Shelter” began in March of 2020, when Covid-19 began sweeping the United States. The sculpture was completed when I received my second Covid-19 vaccine in May of 2021. As documentation of the passage of time, one dryer sheet was added for every load of laundry completed during my heightened exposure to the pandemic. Each row is 5 dryer sheets wide, and the tapestry reaches over 25’ in length. It’s construction exists as a reminder of the time and space we occupied during the pandemic, and the repetitive daily tasks that kept us in rhythm.
